  So why don't the Jehovah Witnesses take up a collection for her to go get the medical care hospital she think she deserves ???? Yeah good luck with that.

  But she can insist medicaid should pay not only her bills ,but where she wants treatment ? I think she should be happy she is getting medical help !

  Amazing re-connect with some old friends that are now EX-JW

  Last night I had the privilege of meeting up with a whole family we use to be friends with years ago in the Congregation . They had all come back from across the country to attend a family wedding .Because of facebook I was able to get in contact with them once again ,and make plans to see them when they were back in the area

  This is a family that left back in the 1990's . Family of six, Father was an Elder ,daughter a pioneer . Back then their older girls babysat our kids ,and their younger sons were best friends of my husbands brother . Mom and Dad were my in laws best friends .

  I was pretty niave back in those days, and busy raising our babies so we were not in the "loop" so to speak of what was really going on behind the scenes in the hall at that time . I knew something big had happened because the Elder body was broken apart, some removed and a committeee of outside Elders came in to discipline and give a special talk to the congregation ,mainly on gossip . Last night some of the missing peices of the puzzle were put into place for me . I think it was an eye opener for my husband to hear the truth of how things really were in the congregation . I don't need to go into detail ,but it was another example of how things in this organization are based on people egos , pride ,and NOT God's holy spirit .

  It was interesting to hear each of the family members explain their defining moment when thery realized it was not the truth after all . They each faded away at different times for their own personal reasons . Back then just as it is today in the hall when someone stops going you just assume they are weak..., and I know I was guilty of thinking that and for not trying to really find out why they had faded . I listened to gossip and assumed it was correct about them .....sad that i was once that way .

  They are all happy now with their choice each in a different place ,but content . We all agreed it was very special to speak to someone from our past that knew our history, and could truly understand where the other one was coming from .

  I couldn't make the exjw meetup in Chicago this weekend ,but it turns out I had my own ! lol

  It really lifts my spirits to connect with others I knew as a witness that are now free too .

  having trouble getting my head around this...?

  last week i did some work for the army.

  while there i was impressed by how nice all the guys were.

  how respectfull, helpfull and decent they all were.

  Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

  This scripture really does reflect a lot how many Veterns and military persons believe . I highly suggest you visit any Military memorial service and you will understand a little more clearly . I went to our towns 9/11 tribute and appreciation service last week . There was not a dry eye in the crowd after the speeches . There were speeches from a Veteran from every conflict in modern history there, plus first responders on 9/11.

  The men that saw active combat and witnessed their own men being killed are NOT proud and happy that they had to kill someone .....they only realize what they did was a part of war .

  My Father is a 20 yr Marine Corp Retired Veteran . He was in China , Korea and Vietnam . He never gloated or took lightly the lives he took .I am sure it is a heavy burden to carry for any Vet , but what keeps it managable is the thought what they did was needed to preserve OUR freedom here at home .

  A message to the Special Pioneer brother who knocked on our door Sat Mornings if we missed Witnessing as Newlyweds!

  we were both newly married and working full time and enjoyed a saturday morning sleep-in and would you believe this idiot "special pioneer" would drive up with a witnessing car group and knock on our door saying: "hi brother 007, we missed you at the group this morning...." yes thats because i was having sex, thanks for ruining it.

  he was a single, rumored gay brother, about 40 years old who could never find the right sister.

  As newlyweds we missed service alot too I was mortified when our BS conductor dropped by with the CO for an early Saturday morning visit ! Good grief you would of thought they could of got the clue when we answered the door in our robes and hair mussed .....(.dumbasses ) BUT no they still invited themselves in for a visit .....sitting there in my robe (naked underneath )......THANKS ALOT FOR REMINDING ME ABOUT THIS !!!!

  Ahem 'No brothers there is no special reason we let our service time slack off " (unless you mean because we wanted to have sex on our day off from work ,we were 18 &21 yrs of age ...what else would we want to be doing ....oh yeah going door to door with you old beggars ...NOT

  WELCOME ! I am so glad you found this site at the time that you did . You will find comfort and strength here because you will find you are not alone !

  So many of us were raised as JW's and have very similar stories to tell . What keeps coming up as common is the internal feeling that something is just not right ,but allowing ourselves to go on doing the same thing for years because we were taught not to trust our own consciences . It took me 44 yrs to finally begin listening to the voice with in me . It is not easy ....but it is SO worth it to wake up and live life .

  I hope you will read many of the personal stories on here and gain strength . It sounds like you have found a wonderful life partner . Life is to short to waste it worrying with guilt founded on what some other human says we should or should not do .

  Continue with your story when you can, and let the healing begin .
